University of Kansas Breast Cancer Survivorship Center

The MetaCancer Foundation partnered with The University of Kansas Cancer Center to fund the Elizabeth Prostic Post-Doctoral Fellowship at the university’s Breast Cancer Survivorship Center. After a competitive process to identify fellowship candidates, the University of Kansas Medical Center selected Susan Krigel, PhD, as the recipient for 2010-2011. During her fellowship, Susan identified patients with psychosocial health needs, worked with an interdisciplinary team of oncology and palliative care professionals in the emotional care of patients and their families, and undertook a research project focused on psychosocial issues related to metastatic cancer.

“This newly established Elizabeth Prostic Post-Doctoral Fellowship teams metastatic cancer patients and their families with an experienced psychosocial professional,” stated Michael Lundblad, President of The MetaCancer Foundation. “Through research and psychosocial care, this program addresses our mission of improving the lives of those people living with metastatic cancers.”
